International growth will play a key part in the future success of the Global Energy Group, the company’s chairman said today.
Roy MacGregor was speaking after the company, which provides services to the energy industry world-wide, topped a new league table of Britain’s privately-owned companies with the fastest growing overseas sales.
Mr MacGregor, said: “Internationalisation has been a central pillar of our strategy as we have grown as a company and developed the services we provide across the markets we operate in. That will continue to be the case as we move forward as a business.
“We have all worked hard, through some very challenging economic conditions, to achieve the success we have to date and it is very gratifying see those efforts recongised.
“We could not have done this without having the best team throughout the company and the right culture and values. I am confident that together we will achieve further success as we continue to develop our business, both in the UK and internationally.”
With head offices in Inverness and Aberdeen, Global has facilities in Dubai, Houston, Trinidad, Norway, Ghana, Egypt, Abu Dhabi and Mumbai and joint ventures in Croatia, Cameroon, Namibia and Angola. A quarter of the company’s annual turnover comes from international sales.
Overseas sales growth of 416% from £1million in 2007 to £27.8million in 2009 earned the company first place in the Sunday Times HSBC International Track 100, published this week.
The latest success is the third accolade for Global in the Sunday Times’ series of league tables tracking the development of privately-owned UK companies. The group was the best performing Scottish business and ranked 18th in the UK in the latest Pricewaterhouse Coopers Profit Track list of British companies with the fastest growing profits over three years. Global was again top Scottish company and 29th in the UK in the Virgin Fast Track 100 league of fastest growing companies.
